Compare and Contract Essay

In Antigone,by Sophocles a young women names Antigone wants to burry her brother but, Creon the king made a new law that no one should burry him for he has betrayed his people. Antigone finds this  we law stupid for it inter fears with the laws of the gods. So Antigone sprinkled dirt on her brother. Since Antigone did that Creon sentenced her to death. Both Antigones and Creons actions lead to several deaths. I believe since Creon and Antigone had many differences and similarities it made it hard for them to get along which helped lead to the deaths.
Antigone and Creon have differences. Antigone loves her family and will do whatever she can to do what's right even if it affects her. To explain my point, this is what Antigone said "But I will burry him, I shall lie down with him in death, and I shall be as dear to him as he to me." ( prologue, 57-60). Antigone follows the laws of the gods and is mad that her sister goes against them, for Antigone tells her sister that she will do what she can to go with the laws of the gods and be loyal to her family at the same time. Creon is loyal to his state, for example Creon says "You will give no support to whoever breaks this law" (1,59). Creon says this for the man has turned against his own and he will not tolerate it. Creon isn't very loyal to his family. Creon would kill his own sons soon to be wife right in front of him. That shows that he doesn't care about his family's feelings just his own. Seeing these points have showed that Antigone and Creon are a lot different.
In a small way Antigone and Creon are the same. Antigone has pride in herself for doing what is right. Antigone says "And if I must die now, before it is my time to die, surely that is no hardship, can anyone living as I live, with evil all about me, think death less than a friend?" (2,74-78). In this quate I believe Antigone is trying to say she doesn't care if she dies. Antigone is fearless. She goes against the law and has the guts to admite it to the kings face. Creon has pride also. Creon says "There  are places enough for him to push his plow. I want no wicked women for my sons!" Creon is also fearless. He takes the chance of losing just to kill a women for breaking the law. So in a way Creon and Antigone are a like even if its not obvious.
Antigone in a way deserved to die because she should have followed the law and if she didn't like it maybe talk to the king and see if they can do a small burial.  Reins pride and self love pushed his son to the edge. Antigone was his soon to be wife but his father had to sentence her to death not caring how he felt. Creons wife killed her self because her husband has driven there son off the edge and she can't live with that and ends her life to be with her sons leaving Creon all by him self.
